Nitrous Oxide-Oxygen Analgesia Training 2026 is organized by Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine (NSUCDM) and will be held from Feb 28 - Mar 01, 2026 at Nova Dental Clinic, Davie, Florida, United States of America.

Course Description

This program is designed to train participants in the administration of nitrous oxide inhalation analgesia. In addition, the integration of oral sedation will be emphasized. The program involves lecture and hands-on participation. Individual experience is under faculty supervision. Participants are required to purchase 'Handbook of Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen Sedation'. The entire book should be read as there is a pre-test that must be completed prior to start of the course. Participants shall demonstrate competency by earning a passing grade on the posttest. A passing grade must be achieved for continuing education credits to be awarded.

Course Objectives

  • Understand the pharmacophysiology of both oral and inhalation conscious sedation
  • Administer nitrous oxide – oxygen analgesia with confidence
  • Incorporate an oral sedative protocol into routine practice
  • Understand the contraindications and complications related to the use of nitrous oxide and triazolam (Halcion®) or other benzodiazepines
  • Establish a risk-management protocol for the safe use of inhalation and oral sedatives
