OVERVIEW

Next-Generation Neuroepigenetics is organized by Neuroscience School of Advanced Studies (NSAS) and will be held from Sep 12 - 19, 2026 in Venice, Veneto, Italy.

Description:
Epigenetic mechanisms in the nervous system are rapidly gaining traction. With their Janus-faced property of being both dynamic and stable, epigenetic modifications are key players not only in shaping neurodevelopment and healthy brain functioning, but also in driving neurological disorders when they go awry. Cutting-edge technologies, such as single-cell epigenome sequencing and cell–type–specific epigenetic editing, are now shedding light on these processes with unprecedented detail.

In this Advanced Course, leading experts will explore neuroepigenetic mechanisms from multiple perspectives. Participants will gain insights from both model and non-model organisms, discover canonical as well as newly emerging modifications, and trace their influence across the lifespan and even across generations. The role of epigenetics in neurological conditions—from addiction and stress to neurodegeneration—will be brought into focus. Along the way, special attention will be given to breakthrough technologies, including spatial epigenomics and precision epigenetic editing. The Advanced Course aims to equip participants with a comprehensive view of the state-of-the-art in contemporary neuroepigenetic research.
