Motivational Interviewing Training is organized by National Centre of Rehabilitation Education (NCORE) and will be held from Oct 12 - 13, 2026 at Derby College, Johnson Building, Derby, England, United Kingdom.
Overview:
This 2-day skills-based face to face workshop will focus on how to help people to change behaviour. At times well intentioned professionals may try and convince and cajole their patients to change often to avail and a breakdown of the interpersonal relationship.
The workshop will initially focus on the communication skills necessary to develop an interpersonal relationship and build empathy working in partnership with people. The course will also focus on supporting participants to increase their understanding of the change process and people’s readiness to make change.
Focusing on the patient-centred relationship and using a guiding style participants will be taken through the learning journey to increase their own competence and confidence in structuring conversations and consultations that make change more likely to happen, increasing both patient and practitioner satisfaction.

Working from the latest Motivational Interviewing textbook – 4th Edition (2023) Helping People Change & Grow – Miller and Rollnick (Guilford press) and building on skills already learnt.
