2026 Mid-America Orthopaedic Association (MAOA) 43rd Annual Meeting is organized by Mid-America Orthopaedic Association (MAOA) and will be held from Apr 15 - 19, 2026 at The Grand Hotel Golf Resort & Spa, Autograph Collection, Point Clear, Alabama, United States of America.

Dr. Matthew Karam and the Program Committee have worked tremendously hard to develop an exceptional educational program. With a record number of scientific abstract submissions this year, the Committee has assembled an outstanding and diverse scientific program. Highlights will include symposia on:

  • Sports Injuries of the Ankle

In addition, the program will feature three engaging

  • Instructional Course Lectures focused on:
  • Structuring a Successful Resident Research Program
  • The Dark Side of the Knee – The Posterolateral Corner
  • Injuries, Hazards, and Risks that Surgeons Face in the Operating Room

2026 MAOA Meeting Objectives:

  • Review current concepts and innovations in the management of adult orthopedic trauma, including fracture fixation strategies, periarticular injury management, and soft-tissue considerations.
  • Examine advances in primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty, with emphasis on robotic-assisted surgery, infection prevention, and long-term patient outcomes.
  • Review surgical techniques and postoperative outcomes in shoulder and elbow arthroplasty, including preoperative planning, implant selection, and management of complications.
  • Discuss best practices in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports-related knee injuries, including anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, meniscal repair, and cartilage restoration.
  • Review evidence-based approaches in pediatric orthopedics, including fracture management, congenital deformities, and strategies to improve efficiency and safety in care delivery.
  • Recognize preoperative and intraoperative factors that influence outcomes in hip preservation procedures, such as periacetabular osteotomy and arthroscopic interventions.
  • Review advances in the surgical and non-surgical management of spine trauma and degenerative conditions, with focus on alignment restoration and reduction of complications.
  • Discuss treatment strategies and reconstructive options for complex hand and wrist injuries, including advances in fracture fixation, tendon reconstruction, and nerve repair.
  • Evaluate current management principles for foot and ankle pathology, including trauma, deformity correction, and the integration of biologic and technological innovations.
  • Review contemporary approaches to musculoskeletal oncology, emphasizing limb-sparing procedures, implant durability, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Explore the role of emerging technologies in orthopedic practice, including artificial intelligence, digital surgical planning, simulation training, and outcome tracking.
  • Enhance understanding of clinical outcomes research, value based care, and innovations in orthopedic education, to promote continuous improvement in patient outcomes and professional development.
