Emergency internal medicine VT26 is organized by Uppsala University and will be held from Mar 23 - 27, 2026 in Uppsala, Uppsala Lan, Sweden.
Description:
Management of acute medical conditions is an important part of the work in most medical specialties, both in inpatient and outpatient care. The majority of patients treated in medical departments have been admitted as an emergency. The high workload, the requirement for rapid and adequate management of acute medical conditions, and the lack of available beds place great demands on doctors on call.
Increased knowledge among doctors in emergency services increases patient safety and shortens the length of stay through correct assessment and treatment already upon admission.
The course in emergency medicine is based on commonly occurring symptoms and signs of illness in medical emergency departments and health centers. The lectures are largely based on case descriptions from our clinical everyday life. We focus on acute care and management during the first day of care when the patient is admitted.
Course Objectives
The goal of the course is for participants to strengthen their ability to diagnose, investigate and take adequate measures in the event of acute medical conditions.
