Description:
The Edinburgh Haematopathology Tutorial takes place annually and is designed to provide a practical approach to different topics in Haematopathology.   This year’s tutorial will focus on novel and controversial areas in lymphoma classification, presenting highlights from a Classificatiom Advancement Meeting (CAM) that will take place in March 2026.  The CAM is a joint effort between former members of the World Health Organization (WHO) 5th edition Classification and the International Consensus Classification of hematopoietic neoplasms, designed to inform the 6th edition of the WHO Classification of Myeloid and Lymphoid Neoplasms. The 2026 EHT Tutors are co-ordinators of, and participants in the CAM.  During the Tutorial we will illustrate newly agreed new entities, present modifications proposed for the next classification, and discuss areas of ongoing controversy. At the conclusion of the meeting, participants will have been updated on a broad range of problem areas pertinent to lymphoma classification, be equipped with a practical approach to resolving difficult diagnostic dilemmas, and have an insight into changes expected in the next classification.

A unique feature of the Edinburgh Haematopathology Tutorial is the case orientated format.  The two-day course is divided into eight 90 minute sessions ranging, each tuor delivering two session.  The main focus of teaching is centred on presentation and discussion of illustrative cases, around 40-50 in total over the two days.  Prior to the meeting, participants will be able to view digitally scanned slides (H&E sections and selected Immunohistochemical stains) of each case via a remote server.  During the meeting, the Tutors will use these cases to highlight and discuss specific areas relevant to the topic being presented.  The atmosphere is informal, and delegates are encouraged to interact with the tutors in order to maximise the learning experience for all attendees.
