Dermoscopy for Absolute Beginners is organized by Primary Care Dermatology Society (PCDS) and will be held from May 14 - 15, 2026 at Carlisle Racecourse, Durdar Rd,, Carlisle, England, United Kingdom.

Description:
Dermoscopy for absolute beginners is aimed at people who have either: 

• Never had a dermatoscope but are planning on getting one and want to know how to use it before doing so
• Have a dermatoscope but don't use it because they don't know how 
• Have a dermatoscope in the practice but have not had much (or any) training 
• Have been using a dermatoscope a bit but would like to feel more confident with the basics

The course is delivered to a large group of people and offers plenty of opportunity for interaction. Because of the group size a formal practical session is not included. If you have a dermatoscope, please bring it with you (and camera if you use one) and the team will be able to help with troubleshooting any queries you may have. 

If you don't have a dermatoscope, don't worry, we will have a few on hand that you can try out!Please note that this course is not aimed at making you competent in the diagnosis of early melanomas or difficult atypical naevi. It is the real basics inculding: 

• How to use a dermatoscope
• Keeping it clean 
• How to take good pictures 
• How to tell the difference between common benign lesions, such as seborrhoeic keratoses, BCCs and melanomas.
