Description:
This interactive course will review the use of radiation therapy as an oncology treatment, side effects, side effect management, special radiation procedures, and survivorship considerations.

Objectives:
As a result of participating in this activity, learners should be able to:

  • Define radiation therapy and explain its role in cancer treatment
  • Outline the key steps in radiation planning
  • Describe the primary short- and long-term side effects that vary by radiation treatment location
  • List a minimum of two special procedures that may be conducted in a radiation oncology setting
  • Identify survivorship needs of radiation therapy patients., incliding both clinicl needs such as ongoing scans and management of long-term side effects, and non-clinical needs, including psychosocial, practical, and lifestyle aspects
