OVERVIEW

Big 10 Neurosurgery Consortium Academic Alliance is organized by The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUMC) and will be held from Jan 16 - 18, 2026 at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena, California, United States of America.

Description:
There exists a significant practice gap in the use of multi-institutional data sharing and analysis between neurosurgery programs. The field of neurosurgery deals with relatively rare diseases and as such there is dearth of data in terms of both observational and interventional studies related to the specialty. The aim of the BIG 10 Neurosurgery Consortium meeting is to address these gaps by gathering speakers who have experience organizing and executing multi-institutional research. There will also be sessions whereby the group presents research questions, studies, and gets feedback on these in a panel-type format.

Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Develop a Multi-Institutional Trial Network
Establish a collaborative infrastructure that connects multiple institutions to streamline clinical research efforts and enhance trial reach and impact.

  2. Collaborate on Multi-Institutional Prospective Clinical Trials
Work jointly with partner institutions to design and conduct prospective clinical trials that address shared research priorities and improve generalizability of findings.

  3. Contracts and Agreements to Support Collaboration
Create standardized legal and operational agreements (e.g., data use, material transfer, confidentiality) to efficiently facilitate inter-institutional collaboration.

  4. Evaluate Investigator-Initiated Clinical Research Trials
Assess the feasibility, scientific merit, and regulatory compliance of trials led by individual investigators, with the goal of supporting innovation and expanding research opportunities.
