Description:
In the past years’ meetings, we’ve learned to “Adapt to Change” and “Go It Together.” Both were prescient of the times and what we needed to keep growing and sharing together as psychiatric educators. With this year’s theme, “Navigating the Peaks and Valleys: Education in Uncertain Times,” also resonates. We can’t go a day without seeing unpredictable and challenging local, national, and international headlines. These changes are outside of our control – but that is also what this is about! Our community of psychiatric educators will continue, the best we can, despite the uncertainty. We’ll be sharing tools and tips to navigate whatever lies ahead. Importantly, perhaps what I value most about AAP, is the shared motivations, passions, and friendships that are the core to keep us moving ahead.

Why Attend: 
The AAP Annual Meeting is designed to cultivate the attendees’ professional development, improve their education skills, collaborate on educational scholarship, encourage and facilitate mentorship, and build community with others. Practicing psychiatrists and trainees at all stages of their development are welcome and encouraged to attend. Other professionals are welcome to attend if they share these interests.

Educational Objectives:
As a result of attending this educational activity, participants will be able to:

• Describe teaching approaches that improve and enhance your current educational practice;
• Identify at least one new pedagogical approach to incorporate into your current teaching practice;
• Discuss challenges facing the field of academic psychiatry and identify strategies to address these challenges effectively;
• Identify experienced medical educators who can serve as mentors in developing an effective teaching portfolio and career, as well as peers who can serve as collaborators for new educational projects and scholarly work.
