Description:
The Artificial Intelligence in Nephrology Conference is a two-day educational event designed to explore the transformative role of AI in kidney care. The program will feature keynote addresses, expert-led sessions, and interactive discussions on AI applications in chronic kidney disease (CKD), acute kidney injury (AKI), dialysis, transplant nephrology, nephropathology and precision medicine.

The conference spans two days and includes keynote presentations, thematic sessions, poster presentations, and networking opportunities. Topics range from foundational AI concepts to advanced applications in nephrology, with a focus on clinical relevance and translational potential.

Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  • Describe current and emerging AI applications in nephrology.
  • Identify ethical and regulatory considerations in AI deployment.
  • Evaluate AI tools for CKD/AKI detection and dialysis management.
  • Discuss the role of AI in transplant nephrology and precision medicine.
  • Describe real-world strategies for implementing artificial intelligence (AI) in clinical settings to improve patient care and workflow efficiency.

The University of California San Diego School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The California Board of Pharmacy accepts as continuing education for pharmacists' coursework which meets the standard of relevance to pharmacy practice and is accepted as continuing education by the Medical Board of California.

American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM):
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 13.00 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
