OVERVIEW

AO Sports Advanced Seminar - Knee Injuries and Deformities is organized by AO North America (AO NA) and will be held from Oct 16 - 17, 2026 at Syrian-Lebanese Teaching and Research, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Description:
This event aims to present a broad perspective on the knee joint, emphasizing the concept of "the knee as an organ," where the synergistic interaction between soft tissues (ligaments, menisci, and cartilage) and bones is critical for optimal function. The focus is to provide a set of principles that should guide surgeons in the decision-making process when dealing with knee injuries and deformities. The state-of-the-art in the diagnosis, planning, and management of knee disorders will be addressed by a group of experienced faculty.

Objectives:

  • This course aims to describe the surgical anatomy of the knee ligaments and their implications for reconstructive procedures on these structures.
  • Describe the logic applied to the management of soft tissue injuries (menisci, ligaments, and cartilage).
  • Explain the importance of lower limb alignment in managing knee disorders based on a comprehensive clinical and radiological evaluation.

Goal:
This course aims to present a broad perspective on the knee joint.
