Description:
The Hawai?i Summit is a multidisciplinary gathering of professionals working together to tackle the major issues in fields dealing with violence, abuse, and trauma. International and local speakers come together to share their findings on causation, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation at both the global level and at smaller, community-based levels. Summit attendees will have the opportunity to gain continuing education credits and meet professional licensure requirements. The Summit is also a great opportunity to network not only within your field, but also with professionals in other fields that may provide valuable insight into how theory and research is applied across disciplines.

Learning Objectives:

• Identify current state-of-the-science research, innovative assessment methods, and practice concerning child, adolescent, adult/elder abuse, trauma, and maltreatment.
• Explain the underlying dynamics and overlap of different types of traumas, abuse, and maltreatment. 
• Identify long-term effects of early trauma on functioning of children, adolescents, and adults/elders. 
• Improve skills and techniques for helping children, adolescents, adults/elders, and families recover from various types of traumas, abuse, and maltreatment. 
• Identify issues and effective prevention strategies for those impacted by abuse and neglect. 
• Enhance understanding of trauma-informed care approaches and cultural perspective practices
