Description:
PAOS Orthopedic Boot Camp is an introductory course for physician associates and nurse practitioners to learn basic principles of orthopedic assessment and evaluation. This course teaches the principles and techniques of proper assessment, physical examination, and common joint/bursa injection techniques. The course is geared toward the PA/NP new to orthopedics with less than three years of experience.

Course Learning Objectives:
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

• Determine proper initial radiographs to order and common findings
• Recognize and discuss initial approach to emergent fractures and dislocations
• Demonstrate proper physical examination techniques for extremities
• Demonstrate proper injection techniques for shoulder and knee and discuss appropriate indications for each
