OVERVIEW

2026 Pavilion for Women's Simulation Day is organized by Texas Children's Hospital and will be held on Nov 03, 2026 at Texas Children's Pavilion for Women, Houston, Texas, United States of America.

Description:
The Texas Children's Hospital Pavilion for Women Simulation Course utilizes a competency-based approach to training and assessment through the development of a standardized simulation curriculum. Our dedicated simulation team continuously assesses the needs of in situ simulation for training, onboarding, and continuing education for all team members. The unit-based simulation program provides physicians, residents, faculty, nursing and other staff members the opportunity to improve their teamwork and clinical skills through simulation in their own clinical environment. Teams are able to practice obstetric and neonatal emergencies such as shoulder dystocia, maternal hemorrhage, hypertensive crisis, maternal cardiopulmonary arrest and Mass Transfusion Protocols(MTP). Using standardized patients and mannequins, obstetrics and gynecology simulation staff create realistic scenarios designed to teach obstetric teams the technical ,behavioral, and communication skills necessary for optimal performance when faced with a real-life emergency. These skill sets are the foundation to fostering a culture of safety in obstetrics.

ACCME Objectives:

  • Demonstrate communication skills including closed loop communication, assign roles appropriately, handoff and brief new team members as they arrive, team members are empowered to speak freely and ask questions.
  • Utilize appropriate processes to response to high risk events.
  • Recognize a patient in cardiac arrest, excessive blood loss, hemodynamic instability and in hypertensive crisis.
  • Recognize early signs and symptoms of maternal sepsis.

ANCC Learning Outcomes:

  • At the conclusion of this activity, 80% of participants will identify at least one expected change or enhancement in their professional practice based on the information learned during the session
  • At the conclusion of this activity, 80 % of participants will gain knowledge of the evidence-based algorithms related to hypertensive disorders, obstetric hemorrhage, mass transfusion, maternal cardiac resuscitation in pregnancy and maternal sepsis as evidence by passing the post-test with >80%.
