OVERVIEW

1st Asia-Pacific Workshop on HBV Cure 2026 is organized by Virology Education | Academic Medical Education (VE / AME), Coalition for Global Hepatitis Elimination (CGHE), Korean Association for the Study of the Liver (KASL) and will be held on Jun 10, 2026 in Seoul, South Korea.

Description:
Hepatitis B remains a major public health concern, with Western Pacific bearing the highest disease burden. Extensive research on a functional cure, with many investigational therapeutics in the pipeline, opens prospects to eliminate chronic HBV. This is a rapidly evolving field, which needs scientific exchange to critically discuss the latest data, define barriers, and stimulate new concepts. While intensive research efforts on HBV curative treatments are underway in Asia and the Pacific, progress is largely discussed at national programs, whereas no regional platform exists to disseminate data and stimulate collaboration across the region. To this end, we initiated the Asian-Pacific Workshop on HBV Cure to provide a scientific exchange forum for regional scientists and stimulate lasting collaborations across the region.

Objectives:

  • Provide an Asian-Pacific scientific platform to discuss clinical studies and translational research on HBV cure, stimulate lasting regional collaborations and research networks;
  • Catalyze scientific exchange among researchers from the academia, clinical practice, biotech companies, and pharmaceutical industries to facilitate multistakeholder solutions;
  • Discuss how to reach an HBV functional cure with newly developed agents targeting the immune system or the viral replication cycle;
  • Develop endpoints and optimal biomarkers for these studies.
