Description:
The 16th Annual Symposium on Neurovascular Disease will provide attendees with updates on Neurovascular Surgery and Intervention as well as stroke care. It will provide updates on emerging technologies and strategies for managing acute stroke patients, including early identification of stroke, advances in stroke team communication and technology, as well as expedited patient transport and interventional technology to optimize early treatment of stroke patients. This will include an update on cerebral AVM and aneurysm management. A session dedicated to venous pathologies, venous-CSF fistulas, and new clinical data on middle meningeal artery embolization for chronic subdural hematomas will follow. After lunch, a session on minimizing risks of recurrent stroke patients will cover anti-platelet therapy, sex differences in stroke risk, and assessment of long term cognition in stroke patients. The final session will off er various other neurovascular topics including intracerebral hemorrhage, assessment and management of patent foramen ovale, community stroke education, and dilemmas in stroke diagnosis and management. An expert faculty has been assembled to discuss these important topics and the strategies to support healthcare professionals in delivering optimal care to their patients with neurovascular disease.

Objectives:

  • Apply new techniques and treatment concepts to hypothetical stroke cases
  • Compare and contrast emerging technologies treatments for complex neurovascular conditions
  • Critique the recommended strategies presented in case studies and propose alternative approaches for clinical management
