Our on-site workshops on the Management of Periprosthetic Joint Infection (PJI) offer up-to-date information and practical strategies for effectively managing PJI.

We cover all aspects of care, from prevention and diagnosis to comprehensive treatment approaches that integrate both medical and surgical interventions. Emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach, our courses highlight the most efficient and modern concepts in the field. Participants will benefit from a combination of expert-led lectures, interactive case discussions, and hands-on workshops.

Goal:
Our goal is to review, update, and enhance both theoretical and practical knowledge in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of periprosthetic joint infections, with a particular focus on infections affecting the locomotory system.

  • Epidemiology & implant registries: Primary and revision arthroplasty
  • The importance of animal
  • Diagnosis: microbiology, cytology, histology, imaging
  • Prevention of infection
  • Surgical and antimicrobial therapy
  • Therapeutic options for difficult-to-treat organisms
  • Local antimicrobial therapy, drug delivery systems, bone substitutes and bone grafts
  • Osteomyelitis and septic arthritis, incl. cruciate ligament infections
  • Guidelines of international societies
  • Hematogenous infection
  • Early postoperative infection: when to revise hematoma
  • Delayed (low-grade) infection: diagnostic difficulties and treatment options
  • Chronic painful joint without obvious signs of infection and repeated negative microbiology
  • Culture-negative infections: To treat or not to treat
  • Difficult surgical cases: multiple revisions, compromised soft tissues, insufficient bone stock, persistent infection

Certificate / Credits:
Participants will receive a confirmation of attendance (certificate) at the end of the workshop. Applied for accreditation by the Medical Chamber Berlin and for approval by Ethical MedTech. For participants with German EFN numbers: Participants will be asked to hand in their EFN number the beginning of the event. In case of accreditation, participants will receive the CME credits automatically. Participants working in other countries than Germany can seek to obtain equivalent CME credits by submitting the certificate of attendance to their respective medical society.
