Ultrasound - Point of Care (PoCUS) is organized by Lightbox Radiology Education and will be held on Jun 28, 2025 at Park Royal Darling Harbour, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Description:
Designed as an introduction to point of care ultrasound for healthcare professionals with little or no experience.
This course will build your confidence and ability to perform and interpret ultrasound in a clinical setting. Our expert faculty of emergency physicians and sonographers will provide comprehensive hands-on training in machine operation, image acquisition, and interpretation of common critical care pathologies.

By the end of the course, participants will be confident in performing basic ultrasound examinations and integrating ultrasound findings into clinical decision-making.

Pre course learning modules followed by a 1 day intensive hands on workshop where you will be supervised in performing scans on live models. Limited places available and 1:4 hands-on training.

Curriculum:
Curriculum Highlights:

• Ultrasound Fundamentals: 
  Grasp the essential physics behind ultrasound imaging and master machine operation and probe manipulation.
• EFAST: 
  Learn to rapidly assess for intra-abdominal bleeding in trauma patients.
• Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm: 
  Learn how to confidently scan the aorta to screen for AAA.
• Acute Biliary Pathology: 
  Learn techniques for scanning the gallbladder and diagnosing acute cholecystitis and cholelithiasis.
• Renal:  
  Learn techniques for scanning the renal system and diagnosing Hydronephriosis. 
• Soft tissue:  
  Learn to differentiate cellulitis from drainable abscess quickly and easily.
• Procedural Guidance: 
  Gain practical experience in ultrasound-guided cannulation, vascular access and abscess drainage.

By the end of the course, participants will be confident in performing basic ultrasound examinations and integrating ultrasound findings into clinical decision-making.
