OVERVIEW

Train the Trainer: Senior Trainee and SAS Supervision is organized by The Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) and will be held on Nov 26, 2025 at The Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London, England, United Kingdom.

Description:
The Training the Trainers (TTT) course “Supervision in Practice” will help senior trainees develop skills to make their conversations more valuable for learning. The course is suitable for all senior trainees (ST5-ST7) who are responsible for teaching and training ophthalmologists and Specialist Grade/Associate Specialist SAS Doctors of 5+ years experience.

It is a good course to prepare for the move into supervision in a consultant role.
The course uses a blend of independent preparatory learning with intensively-facilitated practical sessions on the day

Pre-recorded lectures (taking about 4-6 hours) will be circulated beforehand to support the small-group work. Objectives By independently studying pre-recorded lectures before attending the course, delegates will understand the tools utilised in the supervision of trainees, and how to apply them.

These tools include:

  • Objective setting
  • Feedback
  • Appraisal
  • Formative assessment by WBAs
  • Assessment meetings with trainees By attending the course delegates will take part in multiple intensively facilitated small-group practical sessions during which they will fine-tune their skills to apply these tools.
