Description:
A. Theoretical part
The aim of this course is to give participants an overview of the diagnosis and treatment of peri-implant infections as well as the various surgical techniques used in plastic-aesthetic periodontal and peri-implant surgery. Therapy concepts are taught that enable predictable results to be achieved.

The following points are covered:

• Etiology of recessions and soft tissue defects on teeth and implants
• Indications for the treatment of recessions and soft tissue defects on the tooth and implant
• Surgical techniques for obtaining attached mucosa
• Use of new materials for the regeneration of soft tissue on the tooth and implant
• Etiology and diagnosis of peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis
• Implant therapy in periodontally damaged teeth
• Application of hand instruments, ultrasound, powder jet, laser, photodynamic therapy as well as systemic and local antibiotics for the treatment of mucositis and peri-implantitis
  Postoperative care
• Long-term care and long-term outcomes

 B. Practical part

• Exercises on the pig jaw with microsurgical instruments
• Modified coronally shifted tunnel (MCAT) and laterally shifted tunnel (LCT) with use of connective tissue graft or collagen matrix to cover single and multiple recessions
  removal of connective tissue transplant
• Gain of attached gingiva/mucosa by preparing a split-thickness flap and fixating a transplant or soft tissue substitute to the periosteum
• Ridge augmentation with autologous transplant or collagen matrix
• Suture techniques for closing the donor site on the palate, fixation of the transplant to the periosteum, adaptation of the transplants, recessions and coronal displacement and closure of the tunnel.
