OVERVIEW

School of Endodontics is organized by Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine (NSUCDM) and will be held on Oct 25, 2025 at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States of America.

Description:
This presentation is geared principally toward the general dentist and, more specifically, recent dental graduates who feels somewhat intimidated by endodontics. These days most undergraduate dentals schools have such busy curriculums that minimal time is devoted to clinical endodontics. Consequently, this session will be dedicated to such issues as practical diagnosis, the importance of straight line access, emergency treatment and when to refer, how to achieve profound anesthesia, minimization of iatrogenic errors, various instrumentation techniques and obturation options that make sense.

Furthermore, the lecture component will always address endodontics from a restorative point of view. Doing a root canal but destroying the tooth in the process does not achieve anything. Therefore, this presentation will take the participant on a journey that begins with endo-restorative concepts, then leads into access and three-dimensional ultrasonic cleaning and shaping. The process will conclude with an in-depth review of bioceramics in endodontics. This includes pulp caps, perforation repairs, endo-pedo and basic obturation.

School of Endodontics Hands-On Session:
This hands-on session is a natural follow-up to the morning's lecture. The presentation will begin with a review of How to Prevent the Separation of Rotary Files. A brief review of the “Blend Technique” will follow and then Dr. Nasseh will do a hands-on demonstration. He will demonstrate how to properly use heat treated and non-heat treated files rotary files as well as demonstrating the best way to obturate using bioceramic technology. Additionally, Dr. Nasseh will demonstrate under a microscope how to find MB-2 canals. Following the demonstration, participants are encouraged to practice the various techniques and Dr. Koch will personally work with each individual at the hands-on.

Objectives:

  • Be able to recognize and comprehend what well done endodontics can accomplish for their patient.
  • Have a more thorough understanding of diagnosis, instrumentation, and obturation.
  • Be confident in addressing endodontic emergencies.
  • Be able to diagnose and anesthetize “hot teeth.”
  • Have a better understanding of file design and metallurgy.
  • Fully understand the rationale behind bioceramic sealers.
  • Acknowledge that endodontics and restorative dentistry are not distinct entities. It is truly an Endo-Restorative Continuum.
