Prevention is becoming increasingly important and effective – "Prevention is better than cure," but "Diagnosis is key" is also true. Indeed, in addition to measures for a healthy lifestyle, we now have highly effective and well-tolerated medications for high blood pressure, lipid disorders, diabetes, arteriosclerosis, and kidney disease. Even after a cardiovascular event such as a heart attack or stroke, extremely effective preventive measures are available.

The aim of this continuing education course is to provide a current overview of risk factors such as hypertension, obesity, lipid disorders, arteriosclerosis, and kidney disease, as well as new treatment options and rehabilitation. The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) will publish new guidelines on pericarditis and myocarditis, cardiovascular disease in pregnancy, and valvular heart disease in August 2025, which we plan to present shortly after publication.

We plan to cover the entire spectrum of cardiovascular prevention and risk assessment with experienced and prominent speakers over the course of two days.

Prevention is the key to future-oriented, patient-centered medicine – and progress in this field is enormous. The Prevention Summit Berlin & ESC Highlights 2025 brings together leading experts in cardiology, nephrology, internal medicine, and public health to translate current developments in cardiovascular prevention and new guidelines from the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) into everyday clinical practice, and is specifically aimed at physicians from private practice, hospitals, rehabilitation, and academia.

The continuing education course addresses a broad spectrum of key risk factors: from hypertension, dyslipidemia, and obesity to arteriosclerosis and chronic kidney disease. A special focus is on the presentation of the new ESC 2025 guidelines on topics such as pericarditis, myocarditis, cardiovascular disease in pregnancy, and valvular heart disease—shortly after their official publication.

Will provide in-depth insights into new drug options, innovative diagnostic procedures, and current studies. Topics such as mental health, CKM syndrome, lipoprotein(a), GLP-1 agonists, and the role of vaccination in prevention will be discussed in a practical manner and complemented by interactive panel discussions.

The summit offers the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the latest findings in compact sessions, reflect on guideline updates in a timely manner, and gain interdisciplinary perspectives on the prevention of chronic diseases. The event will be submitted to the Berlin Medical Association for certification; participation is free of charge and open exclusively to physicians.
