Description:
The Section of Pediatric Dermatology of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia announces this course focused on providing an update on pediatric skin disorders oriented toward primary care clinicians and specialists who care for children. The course is intended for practicing clinicians who care for children including, but not limited to, pediatricians, dermatologists, family practitioners, general practitioners, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physicians-in-training and other allied healthcare professionals. Other specialists are encouraged and welcome to attend. Participants will receive current information on dermatologic disorders in neonates, children and adolescents.

Objectives:

  • Review current understanding about the mechanisms and treatments of skin disorders associated with systemic issues, including atopic dermatitis, drug reactions, infantile hemangiomas, and hair/nail disorders
  • Describe new treatments for the treatment of molluscum contagiosum and other common skin infections such as warts, tinea, and bacterial infections such as staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome
  • Identify new artificial intelligence technologies that can be helpful to the practicing clinician and what pitfalls to avoid
  • Review newly described diagnoses in neonatal dermatology
  • Recognize and manage pediatric skin disorders and understand where newly approved treatments for atopic dermatitis, acne, vascular anomalies, and epidermolysis bullosa
  • Identify new developments in the understanding of vascular anomalies and contact dermatitis
  • Diagnose and manage pediatric skin infections such as molluscum
  • Review cases that will help the participant identify and recognize genetic skin disorders
