OVERVIEW

Interactive Paediatric ECG Course 2025 is organized by Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) for Children NHS Foundation Trust and will be held on Dec 11, 2025 at Zayed Centre for Research, London, England, United Kingdom.

Learning Aims:
The Interactive Paediatric ECG Course is specifically designed for those who want to become confident in the interpretation of paediatric ECG. Learning will be enhanced by in-depth review of a very large number of traces covering the full spectrum of ECG abnormalities.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the characteristics of a normal ECG
  • Make the difference between an adult and a paediatric ECG
  • Develop an approach to tachycardias (irregular / regular, narrow / wide complex)
  • Discuss the indications and contraindications of Adenosine
  • Know how to approach atrial / ventricular ectopy
  • Understand blocks (sinoatrial, atrioventricular, fascicular, bundle branch blocks)
  • Recognise signs of atrial enlargement and ventricular hypertrophy
  • Explore the differential diagnosis of ST-segment changes
  • Recognise various types of T-wave abnormalities

PROGRAMME:
8:55 – 9:00 Introduction

9:00 – 9:20 ECG Basics

  • Characteristics of the normal ECG, paediatric vs adult ECG
  • Heart rate: quick calculation methods (regular vs irregular rhythms)
  • QRS axis: what is still considered normal, and how to determine it easily
  • Practice exercises and questions

9:20 – 10:30 Tachycardias

  • Mechanisms of tachycardias
  • Irregular vs regular narrow complex tachycardias
  • Wide complex tachycardias: when what appears to be VT is not always VT
  • Adenosine: when to give it, when to avoid it
  • Practice exercises and questions

10:30 – 10:40 Ectopy

  • Atrial ectopy: how much is too much
  • Ventricular ectopy: when to worry
  • Practice exercises and questions
