Emergency Radiology 2025 is organized by University of Washington School of Medicine (UWSOM) and will be held from Aug 03 - 05, 2025 at University of Washington - South Lake Union Campus, Seattle, Washington, United States of America.

This course will provide an update and review on the imaging appearance of trauma and stroke, with a special focus on the key aspects of diagnosis and management, from the perspective of a regional network of care. Content will include indications for a higher level of care, radiology considerations for evacuation and transport, Quality Improvement, lessons learned, “what the surgeon needs to know,” implications for radiology from the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma 2022 Update (Gray Book), and local responsibilities in regional disaster response. Content will be presented by world renowned experts from the University of Washington and from trauma centers from across the United States and Canada including the perspectives of surgery, emergency medicine, neurology, regional emergency transport, and trauma network managers and policy-makers.

This course reviews the imaging of trauma and stroke, with an emphasis on diagnosis, management, and critical decision-making in the emergency setting. Topics include musculoskeletal trauma, pediatric emergencies, neurovascular imaging, thoracic injuries, abdominal trauma, and quality improvement practices. Experts from the University of Washington and other trauma centers will share insights from surgery, emergency medicine, neurology, and more. Through case-based lectures and workshops, attendees will gain practical skills to analyze imaging findings, and guide acute management decisions.

Objectives:

  • Analyze appropriate imaging and transfer protocols.
  • Identify common and uncommon conditions encountered in emergency radiology.
  • Recommend appropriate actions for incidental findings.
