Diagnostic Molecular Pathology

Diagnostic Molecular Pathology is organized by Vincent Academy of Pathology (VAP) and will be held from Nov 12 - 14, 2025 at Lentos Art Museum Linz, Linz, Upper Austria, Austria.

Course Objectives:
The course will cover a broad range of topics in molecular biomarker diagnostics in pathology with an emphasis on solid cancers. We will cover techniques of tissue dissection, analytical technologies and bioinformatic tools as well as complete integration into a pathological diagnosis and therapy recommendations. This will cover both wet-lab techniques and in silico analytics. Participants will have a chance to see histopathological cases, decide on biomarker indications in the context of oncological therapies and write their own diagnostic reports. Whenever appropriate, we will also discuss rational and economic approaches with step-wise multiple tools, such as immunohistochemistry versus multiplex-PCR and next generation sequencing for diagnosis of microsatellite instability. Finally then, we will discuss a number of difficult cases and pitfalls, and here every participant is encouraged to bring and present their own difficult cases.
