OVERVIEW

Course in Transthoracic Echocardiography 2025 is organized by Uppsala University and will be held from Nov 10 - 13, 2025 at Uppsala University Hospital, Uppsala, Uppsala Lan, Sweden.

Overall goals:
The goal is to convey knowledge and understanding of transthoracic echocardiography. Knowledge should include both normal findings and typical findings in the most common heart diseases and how these should be interpreted.

Results for the participant:
Participants should:

  • Be able to define a standard transthoracic echocardiographic examination and list essential qualitative and quantitative findings
  • Be able to account for the strengths and weaknesses of the methods, especially limitations regarding reliability and precision
  • Evaluate morphological and functional signs and echo parameters with regard to cardiovascular diseases
  • Summarize important echocardiographic guidelines and recommendations
  • Collaborate during the course to identify difficulties and unclear details in practical echocardiographic measurements. To this end, theoretical knowledge through lectures is interspersed with participants practically making their own calculations in an interpretation program for echocardiographic images from different patient cases.
