Description:
Among many differentiating factors between the various implant designs available to the clinician, is the type of implant-abutment connection or simply put the hex. The external hexagonal connection was the first one used and later many different styles of the internal hexagonal connection flooded the implant market. This lecture will compare the two connections from both biological and mechanical standpoints.

Course Objectives:

• Comparison of biological outcomes associated with external vs. internal hexagonal connection for implant and implant-supported restorations 
• Comparison of mechanical outcomes associated with external vs. internal hexagonal connection for implant and implant-supported restorations 
• Where is the market moving towards? Why? What will be our future challenges?
