Basic Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Course is organized by Ohio American College of Emergency Physicians (OH ACEP) and will be held from Nov 05 - 06, 2025 at Embassy Suites by Hilton Columbus, Columbus, Ohio, United States of America.

Description:
This course is intended for acute care providers and medical professionals wanting to develop and enhance their point-of-care ultrasound skills (POCUS). It includes 10-hours of small group, hands-on scanning!

Why Attend Basic:
This 2-day course is designed to provide training in the core practical and clinical applications of emergency medicine ultrasound. Small group instruction and ten hours of hands-on scanning provides attendees with individual feedback and critical high-yield ultrasound do's and don'ts. Learn fundamental point-of-care ultrasound skills that will improve patient care and enhance your daily practice.

Basic Practice Scanning Sessions Include:

  • Physics & Knobology - commonly used systems, image optimization & hand control
  • Abdominal - aorta, gallbladder & kidneys; normal anatomy & common emergent pathology
  • Extended FAST exam - perihepatic, perisplenic, subcostal & pelvic windows & thoracic scanning
  • Procedural - central & peripheral venous access, foreign body, abscesses vs cellulitis & more
  • Lower Extremity Venous Compression - ultrasound evaluation of suspected DVT
  • Focused Cardiac - global systolic function, chamber size, pericardial effusion/Tamponade & IVC
  • OB-GYN - early pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy, common abnormal pregnancies & normal pelvic anatomy
  • Integral Ultrasound - Beginning to integrate ultrasound into the care of the critical patient
