Advanced Hazmat Life Support (AHLS Provider) VT25 is organized by Karolinska Institute / Karolinska Institutet (KI) and will be held from Feb 04 - 05, 2025 at ,Stockholm, Stockholm, Sweden.
Description:
The course is a two-day concept training course developed at the University of Arizona and has been in place since 1999. The content is regularly reviewed and updated by the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology (AACT).
Offering an international concept education such as AHLS in Sweden has several advantages. It could, for example, involve Swedish response personnel using the same standards and methods as their colleagues from other regions and international colleagues. In Europe, AHLS exists as an education in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Ireland. This enables uniform and consistent handling of hazardous substances, which is particularly important in cross-border incidents or when international cooperation is required. The participants also have the opportunity to learn from experiences and best-practice from other countries.
Purpose and Goals:
In the changed world situation, increased knowledge and capacity in the CBRN area has been deemed important. AHLS is a specialized training aimed at healthcare personnel, emergency services and experts who deal with chemical accidents and hazardous materials. The goal of introducing AHLS in Sweden is to strengthen national and regional preparedness for potential chemical threats. This leads to faster and more efficient response to incidents, reducing the risk of serious damage to people and the environment.
Participants learn to medically manage patients exposed to hazardous substances by recognizing signs and symptoms.
The course covers different types of chemical substances such as insecticides, corrosive substances and irritating gases. Specific antidotes and their indications, contraindications, dosage and routes of administration are also included.
After completing the AHLS Provider, participants will be able to:
