9th Annual Trauma Symposium 2025 is organized by Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare (MLH) and will be held from Sep 12 - 13, 2025 at FedEx Event Cente, Memphis, Tennessee, United States of America.

Description:
The Pediatric Trauma Symposium will provide an overview of education and improve knowledge on basic recognition and intervention needs for seriously injured trauma patients in the pediatric population for nursing, physicians and other healthcare providers in the hospital and pre-hospital setting. This program will educate healthcare providers to decrease the number of opportunities for improvement by improving diagnoses, enhancing treatment plans and improving patient outcomes.

Objectives:

  • The learner will be able to discuss and understand what pediatric readiness means. The learner will be able to apply knowledge and assess their needs for their facility to be Pediatric Ready whether a hospital or pre-hospital setting.
  • The learner will learn and understand what the national field triage guidelines are. The learner will be able to describe, recognize and apply appropriately patient destinations for trauma centers.
  • The learner will learn what trauma informed care is. The learner will discuss and identify biases and how to provide trauma Informed Care to all patients in the in-hospital settings and pre-hospital.
  • The learner will learn about different types of disasters. The learner will discuss and identify ways to prepare for mass casualty situations for natural and domestic disasters.
  • The learner will be able to identify through case scenarios proper pediatric assessment and interventions needs of the traumatically injured pediatric patient.
  • The learner will discuss, understand and demonstrate emergency resuscitation/field recognition and proper assessment of trauma patients.
  • The learner will discuss, understand and demonstrate the use of Ultrasound in the pre-hospital setting
  • The learner will learn, discuss & understand the use of in-house Ultrasound machine and interpretation of results.
  • The learner will discuss & demonstrate appropriate IV/IO insertions and maintenance of access.
  • The learner will acquire tips and tools on how to identify personal mental health needs and how to address secondary trauma.
  • Share Trauma Survivor experience and how healthcare played a part in his recovery. The learner will learn how their knowledge, skills, and expertise play a part in helping to save lives from trauma.
  • The learner will learn about difficult intubations and how to assess for proper airway placement in the trauma pediatric patient. The learner will describe and demonstrate Proper Airway Intubation.
  • The learner will learn different burn care approaches to pediatric burns.
  • The learner will describe appropriate burn care assessments in the pre- hospital and in-hospital settings.
