6th Annual Essentials in Internal Medicine Conference is organized by Tulane University Center for Continuing Education (CCE) and will be held on Nov 15, 2025 at Tulane Murphy Building, New Orleans, Louisiana, United States of America.

Description:
This activity is designed to equip internal medicine and subspecialist professionals with the most current diagnostic and treatment options available in internal medicine and its subspecialties. With advances in Internal Medicine and its subspecialties progressing at a rapid pace it is important for internists and subspecialists to keep abreast of these advances for appropriate management of their patients.

Statement of Need:
The field of Internal Medicine and its subspecialties is constantly evolving, as emerging research redefines and/or modifies current standards in clinical practice. Physicians attending this conference should increase their knowledge, skills and competence in the areas of the future of Internal Medicine and its subspecialties. With advances in Internal Medicine and its subspecialties progressing at a rapid pace it is important for internists and subspecialists to keep abreast of these advances for appropriate management of their patients.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this educational activity, the participants should be better able to effectively:

  • Describe clinical uses of immunotherapeutics in cancer and autoimmune disorders.
  • Recognize common & uncommon skin cancers.
  • Discuss current guidelines for the management of diabetic kidney disease.
  • Describe the benefits of using Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments to tailor individualized care plans for older adults.
  • Discuss patients with tricuspid regurgitation.
  • Describe recent updates in asthma management guidelines, including changes in the role of short-acting beta-agonists (SABAs) and preferred controller therapies.
  • Discuss indications for lung cancer screening.
  • Identify and risk stratify patients with Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease.

Predicted Outcomes:
Predicted changes in practice as a result of participating in this activity may include the improved ability to:

  • Explore strategies to implement changes in clinical practice in accordance with recent advances and clinical guidelines.
  • Incorporate the most recent guidelines that pertain to Internal Medicine into practice
