2025 Critical Concepts in Shoulder & Elbow Surgery is organized by Foundation for Orthopaedic Research and Education (FORE) and will be held from Dec 11 - 13, 2025 at FIVE Labs Vegas, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States of America.

Course Description:
Critical Concepts in Shoulder & Elbow Surgery provides a comprehensive hands-on experience in shoulder and elbow procedures, allowing attendees to  learn how to do these procedures by actually doing them.

Through case-based discussions, surgical tips presentations, live demonstrations, and extensive hands-on experience with anatomic specimens, the expert faculty will discuss:

  • Treatment of massive rotator cuff tears, including tendon transfers 
  • Stabilization procedures for shoulder dislocations
  • Techniques for anatomic and reverse shoulder arthroplasty
  • Surgical pearls for revision arthroplasty procedures
  • Approaches to the elbow

Multiple opportunities for hands-on training with new technologies and techniques will be offered on each day of the course.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss the role of biologics and augments in the treatment of massive rotator cuff tears
  • Explain when and how to perform tendon transfers for massive rotator cuff tears
  • Compare open versus arthroscopic procedures to manage shoulder instability
  • List the approaches for surgical exposure of the elbow
  • Describe the techniques for adequate exposure and replacement of the glenoid and humerus in an uncomplicated anatomic total shoulder arthroplasty
  • Explain the circumstances in which an augmented glenoid implant should be considered in anatomic total shoulder arthroplasty
  • Identify glenoid bone loss requiring use of an augment in a patient undergoing reverse shoulder arthroplasty
  • Recognize the role of PSI and navigation in reverse shoulder arthroplasty
  • Perform the latest approaches for operating on a variety of shoulder and elbow pathologies, including revision arthroplasty
