ICU Update
Open to all of our delegates, the ICU Update of 2025 will be held on Wednesday the 28 May. As in previous years the program aims to provide practicing Intensivists contemporary knowledge on a selection of topical areas of interest not covered in the main ASM. This year topics will include an expert guide to troubleshooting mechanical ventilator waveforms presented by Professor David Tuxen, and a session on recent clinical trials that should change practice from A.Prof Anthony Delaney. There will also be sessions on contemporary management of burns and of obstetric emergencies.

The afternoon will be a series of Airway Management workshops which will give participants the opportunity to complete their CPD specialist high level requirements.

Trainee Symposium
The annual CICM Trainee Symposium is a one-day event open to all ICU trainees in Australia and New Zealand in the lead up to the CICM Annual Scientific Meeting. This will be a diverse, exciting and educational program to inspire and motivate ICU trainees to become the best you can be in your training and practice of intensive care medicine. There will be talks on the latest research and best practice in key clinical topics, as well as a diverse range of non-clinical sessions of relevance to trainees at all stages. There will be opportunities to ask questions to expert panels of intensivists and College staff, and network with your colleagues.

2025 USIG Symposium
Thoracic Ultrasound
Real-time diagnosis of pneumothorax, pleural effusion, interstitial syndrome, ARDS, pneumonia, atelectasis and diaphragm function is possible using thoracic ultrasound. Our international and national experts will teach the techniques and evidence- base behind this emerging aspect of intensive-care medicine. Our whole day symposium will begin with the fundamentals of lung imaging, explaining in depth the A line, B lines, Z lines and lung aeration scores. No prior knowledge or practical skills are necessary to attend. Using case-base examples our experts will then work through the many practical uses of thoracic ultrasound in the many pathologies met every day in practice .
