Course Objectives:
Lectures and videos from experienced faculty provide step by step tuition for minimally invasive and open techniques in the resection of upper gastrointestinal cancers. Hands on surgical dissection using fresh frozen cadavers includes:

• Laparoscopic gastric mobilization
• Thoracoscopic oesophagectomy
• Open cervical exploration
• And much more

Educational Methods:
To experience and familiarise the various positions available to perform minimally invasive resections.

• Familiarization with the instruments and equipment required.
• To demonstrate the different surgical techniques in a hands on theatre setting
• How to avoid and deal with intraoperative complications
• To experience the different exposures to the abdomen and chest in relation to the open approach
