OVERVIEW

Training 'Process-Based Breathing and Relaxation Therapy - Part 2' is organized by Netherlands Paramedical Institute (NPi) / Nederlands Paramedisch Instituut (NPi) and will be held from Mar 28, 2024 - Feb 13, 2025 at Cape Doorn Conference Centre, Doorn, Utrecht, Netherlands.

Dates:
Thursday March 28, Thursday April 4, Thursday April 18, Thursday April 25, Thursday September 19, Thursday September 26, Thursday October 10, Thursday October 17, 2024, Thursday January 16, Thursday January 23, Thursday February 6 and Thursday February 13, 2025

Goal:
After this training you will be able to give breathing and relaxation instruction in a responsible manner, apply supporting manual techniques and guide the practice experiences of patients. You will recognize the processes that can occur with breathing and relaxation instruction in yourself and in patients. You will also be able to perform, evaluate and report a trial treatment as a measuring instrument for screening the role of 'normal tension' in complaints.

Description:
From 2024, the NPi will provide the full training 'Process-based breathing and relaxation therapy'. The NPi offers this training, which consists of three parts (years), in collaboration with the Van Dixhoorn center for breathing and relaxation therapy .
In this training, you will learn to give breathing and relaxation instructions from a process-based approach, to apply various manual techniques to promote the relaxation response and to influence the breathing pattern. You will also learn to supervise patients' practice experiences. This will enable you to investigate to what extent excessive tension is present and can be influenced, or whether the circumstances are dominant and keep the tension high. If excessive tension resolves, you can make a statement to what extent tension complaints are related to dysfunctional tension and to what extent limiting conditions continue to play a role.

Part 2 of the Training:
Part 2 of the training 'Process-based breathing and relaxation therapy' consists of three blocks of four days with a considerable time between the three blocks.
Part 2 focuses on the theory and practice of breathing and relaxation therapy according to the Van Dixhoorn method. Part 2 consists mainly of getting to know the many manual techniques during the course days and performing them together one-on-one. A lot of attention is paid to the neutral attitude of the therapist and responding to the patient's response, so that you can perform the techniques in a process-oriented manner. Between the course days, you practice the techniques with fellow students to make them even more your own. During each course day, there is time for questions and input from practical experiences.

In this part, you perform two test treatments under supervision, during which you are guided in learning to act in a process-oriented manner to reduce dysfunctional tension, in estimating the level of tension, in determining to what extent the internal self-regulation of tension has improved and in making a statement about the nature of possible tension complaints. You will also receive several assignments on theoretical subjects.

Part 2 of the training is concluded with a written report on your own experiences with breathing and relaxation therapy and with patients in practice. The Part 2 certificate is issued after satisfactory assessment of the written report and the reports of the two trial treatments.
