OVERVIEW

29th Annual Meeting and Education Day of the Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO) is organized by Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO) and will be held from Nov 21 - 24, 2024 at George R. Brown Convention Center, Houston, Texas, United States of America.

Theme: The Hallmarks of Brain Cancer

29th Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuro-Oncology: November 22-24, 2024
Statement of Need/Program Overview:
The Society for Neuro-Oncology’s Annual Meeting is the largest and most influential meeting for multidisciplinary collaboration in the field of Neuro-Oncology in North America. The latest advances in Central Nervous System (CNS) cancers are shared with an international audience that includes a variety of sub-specialties involved in basic and translational research, clinical as well as symptom management research. The meeting fosters opportunities to explore collaborations that will positively influence outcomes for patients with CNS cancers. This year’s meeting will highlight the theme The Hallmarks of Brain Cancer. This activity is a collaboration of researchers and clinicians disseminating new knowledge to healthcare professionals in order to provide the highest quality of patient care to improve patient outcomes. The goal is to provide healthcare professionals with updated viewpoints, strategies, collaboration opportunities and an increased knowledge base to maximize treatment and improve outcomes for brain tumor patients.

Educational Objectives:
After participating in this CME activity, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize the latest basic science discoveries in the field of neuro-oncology.
  • Discuss advances in multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment of patients with CNS malignancies.
  • Define advances and challenges in clinical trial design, delivery, and treatment for patients with CNS malignancies.
  • Identify new advances in the multidisciplinary care of pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients with CNS malignancies.
  • Explain the newest discoveries in the hallmarks of brain cancer.

2024 SNO Education Day: Thursday, November 21
Statement of Need/Program Overview:
As an adjunct to the 2024SNO Annual Meeting, the Education Day on November 21 will feature specialized content focusing on the molecular classification of brain tumors and its role in therapy. There will be two distinct tracks on this theme, one addressing basic science and the other addressing the applied and practical aspects of managing the care of patients with CNS tumors.

Educational Objectives
After participating in this CME activity, participants should be able to:

  • Explain trends in current molecular classification systems of brain tumors.
  • Describe the preclinical work for various targeted therapies and their integration into the treatment regimen of patients diagnosed with CNS tumors.
  • Discuss the progress made in elucidating the cells of origin and their link to molecular etiology of various pediatric and adult CNS tumors.
  • Describe recent advances in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with pediatric and adult brain tumors.
  • Identify advances in the diagnosis of and clinical trial design for patients with brain tumors.
  • Discuss recent technological advances in diagnosis and classification of CNS tumors.
