Refresher course in melanoma surgery is organized by European School of Oncology (ESO) and will be held from Oct 11 - 13, 2024 at Dublin, Leinster, Ireland.

Description:
The refresher course on melanoma surgery has been designed for surgical and medical oncologists with the aim to provide a comprehensive update concerning modern treatment for melanoma, as well as an overview of the latest advances in the field. Practical training will be offered in the frame of collegial discussions with participants and the faculty, a multidisciplinary conference, but also video presentations of common surgical techniques.

Learning Objectives
• Understand melanoma biology, epidemiology and pathology
• Update on treatment options for wide local excisions and basic flaps
• Update on sentinel node biopsy and lymph node dissections, including videos
• Learn about modern systemic targeted treatment and immunotherappy
• Learn about the role of adjuvant and neoadjuvant systemic treatment
• Learn about locoregional treatments including isolated limb perfusion, isolated limb infusion, electrochemotherapy and TVEC
• Learn about the role of surgery in metastatic disease
• Learn about the future development in the treatment of melanoma
• Debate controversies and challenges in melanoma care
• Improve practical skills in multidisciplinary management and follow-up of patients with melanoma
