European Respiratory Society (ERS) Clinical Exercise Testing: Advanced 2024 is organized by European Respiratory Society (ERS) and will be held from Oct 24 - 25, 2024 at Eurostars Roma Aeterna, Rome, Lazio, Italy.
Description:
Exercise testing is fundamental for the accurate quantification of cardiorespiratory fitness and for identifying mechanisms underlying exercise intolerance and shortness of breath (dyspnoea). Several indices of exercise testing-related physiological response relate independently to major clinical outcomes such as survival and hospital admissions, thus allowing considerable improvement in prognostic stratification.
This course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the physiological basis of exercise testing, to identify the indications and the protocols used in clinical and rehabilitation settings as well as the increased importance of exercise testing in the prognostic setting.
Learning Outcomes:
Following this course, participants will be able to:
• Understand the physiological significance of cardiopulmonary response profiles, in the context of exercise protocols.
• Describe the typical response profiles observed in patients with different cardio-respiratory diseases.
• Utilise exercise testing and interpretation in the evaluation of rehabilitation programs.
• Recognise the emerging importance of exercise testing in the prognostic setting.
Topics:
• Indications
• Protocols
• Measurements
• Data interpretation (data presentation/test reporting)
• Impact on prognosis and treatment
