Morning Workshops:
Navigating Pain Management: The Role of Buprenorphine and Methadone Amidst the Opioid Crisis
(8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)
Learners will take away systematic approaches to acute and chronic pain management for people with a history of substance use disorder. This will include being able to summarize the evidence base for buprenorphine for the treatment of chronic pain (in the absence of opioid use disorder), the reasons for and steps to transition a patient from high dose opioids to buprenorphine, and how to have clinical conversations about this transition. The role of methadone in this population will also be covered. The expert faculty will also explore the forefront of pain management with a glimpse into emerging novel treatments, such as learning 2-3 therapies on the horizon for chronic non-cancer pain sufferers.

Train the Trainer: Develop and Implement a Destigmatization Workshop for Your Clinical and Administrative Staff
(8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)
Break new ground in combating stigma within substance use disorder (SUD) treatment by joining our workshop designed to equip clinical and administrative support staff with specialized education. The vital influence of non-addiction medicine clinicians and staff on patient care remains overlooked. Our workshop fills this crucial gap by offering insights into stigma within SUD care and delivering a templated Destigmatization Workshop tailored for both clinical and administrative teams. Engage in dynamic breakout sessions customized to various clinical settings, from inpatient to outpatient, emergency department and palliative care. Walk away with a concrete plan for workshop development and implementation, empowering you to lead transformative education initiatives within your practice.

Afternoon Workshops:
Shifting Paradigms: Navigating Psychedelic Therapy in Mental Health and Addiction
(1:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
This workshop will focus on the safe, effective, and relational delivery of psychedelic medicines to individuals with addictive disorders. In addition to developing an understanding of the history, mechanisms of action, and ongoing research, attendees will come away with a deeper understanding of the delivery of these medicines as part of relationship, spirituality and community. Through case presentations, panel discussions, and presentations by leading experts, we will explore the importance of providing these medicines within the context of a collaborative therapeutic approach. Target audience: clinicians interested in the safe, holistic, relational use of psychedelics in treatment of addiction.

Motivational Interviewing for Busy Clinicians and Educators
(1:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.)
Learn or refine your clinical and teaching skills in Motivational Interviewing (MI) to promote behavior change for unhealthy alcohol and drug use, as well as other lifestyle changes commonly addressed in primary care and other specialties. Strategies will be developed through mentored learning in breakout groups, clinical skills acquisition, and practice.  All participants will develop continuing learning plans to increase their MI proficiency.

Additional details will be posted as soon as information is available.
