The AOA is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to certify education and issue CME credit to physicians. In addition to AOA Category 1A, 1B, 2A and 2B credit, the AOA now offers AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for CME provided directly or through joint providership with its constituencies.

Nurse Practitioners
The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) recognizes the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as approved accreditors and allow reciprocity for AANPCP continuing education credit. Maximum of 28.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ or 28.0 AOA Category 1-A Credits.
