Description:
The AATS Mechanical Support and Thoracic Transplantation Summit is a two-day, state-of-the art summit that will focus on contemporary and novel mechanical oxygenation and circulatory support devices: technologies to support the heart and lung, both inside and outside the body.

Purpose:
At the end of this activity, participants will report their intentions to apply techniques in cardiac recording and mapping and clinical electrophysiology and use various operative techniques for the treatment of arrhythmias and post procedural cardiac monitoring and appropriate follow-up.

• Review the clinical benefits associated with mechanical support for patients with advanced heart and/or lung failure.
• Identify common device-related complications, such as right heart failure, stroke, pump thrombosis, and driveline infections, as well as measures that can be taken to reduce incidence of complications.
• Learn and incorporate best practice guidelines for post-implant management of complex patients.
• Become knowledgeable about future MCS techniques and devices in the pipeline.
