2024 Cardiovascular Nursing Conference - Matters of the Heart: Leading the way is organized by Houston Methodist and will be held on Oct 21, 2024 at Houston Methodist Research Institute, Houston, Texas, United States of America.

Program Overview:
This conference focuses on critical aspects of cardiovascular nursing patient care. Attendees will learn from various Houston Methodist cardiovascular clinicians on topics such as shared decision-making, cardiogenic shock, hemodynamics and more. Additionally, attendees will have a hands-on learning opportunity at the MITIE Lab featuring the “Tour Through the Heart,” an interactive session guided by Houston Methodist cardiovascular surgeons to better understand cardiac anatomy.

Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this continuing nursing education activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Recognize effective optimization methods before cardiac/cardiovascular surgery to improve patient outcomes.
  • Formulate strategies in managing postoperative cardiovascular surgical complications.
  • Understand aortic stenosis and TAVI as a treatment option and the difference between the different valves offered.
  • Discuss heart failure and devices used to manage cardiogenic shock/severe heart failure.
