Program Description:
Unlike trauma education programs targeted at prehospital and emergency care providers, the Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) course is specifically designed for acute care, critical care, and perioperative nurses.
This live, 2-day program gives inpatient bedside care providers the foundational, evidence-based information and critical thinking skills necessary to meet regulatory requirements and provide excellent care to this challenging patient population.
Program Overview:
PART 1
Participants focus on concepts relevant to the nursing care of the injured, hospitalized patient:
• The trauma care spectrum
• The biomechanics of trauma
• The body's response to injury
PART 2
Learners apply information from Part 1 by participating in interactive expanding case scenarios that focus on the admission to discharge care of patients with injuries to various body regions. Cases include the surgical, medical, and nursing management of patients with:
• Thoracic injury
• Abdominal injury
• Musculoskeletal injury
• Craniocerebral injury
• Spine & spinal cord injury
