OVERVIEW

The 38th Annual Conference on Obstetrics, Gynecology, Perinatal Medicine, Neonatology, Multi-Specialties, and the Law is organized by Center for Human Genetics, INC. and will be held from Jan 02 - 07, 2023 at JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa, Phoenix, Arizona, United States of America.

Conference Overview:
Patients admitted to a hospital or seen by a doctor's office do not expect to be hurt. It is, unfortunately, a sad reality. According to the Medical Professional Liability Association, 2017,-2018 and 2019, the latest three-year analyses show that 21329 negligence claims were closed, with 5,873 (28%) getting paid. The amount of indemnity was $2.2 billion. The defense costs totaled $1.1 billion. Over a third of all errors are caused by missed or delayed diagnoses. Other errors include faulty judgment, clinical reasoning, ignorance, and inexcusable ignorance of new medical developments. There is a specific relevance for the latter topic regarding the practice of obstetrics with particular reference to preconception, perinatal and postnatal genetics, and the indications and limitations for using microarrays, whole exome sequencing, and whole genome sequencing in obstetrics. Cognitive biases. These cognitive biases, which number over 100, directly impact clinical decision-making. They should be given more attention during physician training. A non-caring attitude and a mindless approach to medicine can lead to catastrophic results. All these factors impact medical malpractice prevention and care standards, a strong conference focus.

Learning Objectives:
Following this conference, healthcare professionals will be able to describe the role of law and lawyers in medical malpractice lawsuits and discuss the complexities of the legal process in the context of medical malpractice lawsuits at the end of the conference.
