Society of Toxicologic Pathology (STP) 42nd Annual Symposium is organized by Society of Toxicologic Pathology (STP) and will be held from Jun 25 - 28, 2023 at Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States of America.

Theme: “Toxicologic Pathology of the Hepatobiliary System”.

Description:
The hepatobiliary system is a common target in toxicology and carcinogenicity studies. All pathologists and toxicologists are reasonably familiar with various adaptive and adverse manifestations in this organ system. The 2023 Society of Toxicologic Pathology 42nd Annual Symposium, "Toxicologic Pathology of the Hepatobiliary System," aims to bring this discipline's current and emerging topics to the membership.

The symposium will kick off on Monday morning with a Keynote talk by Dr. Anna Mae Diehl on the challenges related to drug-induced liver injury in people with obesity-related comorbidities-- a significant public health issue. This is followed by the first scientific session chaired by Drs. Russ Cattley and Bhanu Singh discuss considerations for evaluating hepatobiliary toxicities, especially those resulting from newer therapeutic modalities such as RNAi, LNP, gene therapy, and kinase inhibitors. Drs chaired the Monday afternoon session. Bob Maronpot and Debabrata Mahapatra will focus on the translational relevance of model systems to study liver cancers and drug-induced liver injury.

Tuesday morning will kick off with a second Keynote talk by Dr. D. Lansing Taylor on the state of science applications of micro-physiological systems to identify hepatobiliary toxicities. A scientific session chaired by Drs follows the Keynote. Jim Klaunig and Magali Guffroy focus on various experimental model systems to understand hepatobiliary toxicities and carcinogenicity. They will include talks on in vitro applications such as 3D cultures, cell painting, and next-generation sequencing approaches. Drs chaired the Tuesday afternoon session. Eric Blomme and Arun Pandiri will focus on the toxicogenomics approaches to address toxicity and carcinogenicity in the liver. They will discuss the practical applications of these technologies in the environmental toxicology space and pharmaceutical risk assessment.

On the last day, the Wednesday morning session was chaired by Drs. Paula Katavolos and Adam Aulbach will focus on clinical pathology and biomarkers of liver toxicity with talks on traditional and emerging biomarkers of hepatic clinical pathology. This session will also feature two student presentations selected by the STP Awards Committee. Drs chaired the final session of the symposium. Allison Boone, John Cullen, and David Malarkey will feature classic diagnostic dilemmas in the toxicologic pathology of the hepatobiliary system and several interesting toxicologic pathology case studies from the STP membership.

In addition to the above scientific program, there will be numerous opportunities for interactions and knowledge sharing via poster presentations, Continuing Education Courses, the Division of Translational Toxicology (DTT) Satellite Symposium, and informal discussions during the Welcome Reception, session breaks, Town Hall, Awards and Recognition Ceremony, and finally the President's Reception.
