As of today, congenital disabilities or birth defects and developmentally-mediated disorders represent a significant concern in terms of public health worldwide. It's possible for things like medications, chemicals, infectious diseases, food, genetics, maternal health, and socioeconomic variables to impact human development.

Extensive scientific understanding is required to understand the potential risks of growing embryos, fetuses, and children and protect them from those risks. This knowledge must come from various emerging domains, such as cell and molecular biology, developmental biology and toxicology, computational modeling, genetics, and epidemiology. The science is put into practice in the fields of prenatal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics, neonatology, medical genetics, counseling, product safety, risk assessment, and governmental restrictions.

The opportunity to promote our common goals and scientific identity as researchers whose work focuses on the causes, symptoms, intervention, and prevention of birth abnormalities and disorders of developmental origin is afforded to us by the Annual Meeting we hold each year. The most recent findings from research on birth abnormalities, diseases that have their roots in development, and cutting-edge technologies will be presented during the scientific sessions.

This sermonic meeting has the theme of "Improving Pregnancy Outcomes through Collaborative Research," it will cover basic, epidemiologic, and clinical research and the application of new technologies to learn more about and prevent birth defects, and their postnatal/functional effects.
