Focus on Outcomes: Pharmacogenomics, Medication Optimization and Collaborative Care & Clinical Principles of Geriatrics is organized by Continuing Education, Inc. and will be held from Dec 31, 2023 - Jan 07, 2024, at Celebrity Ascent, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States of America.
Program Purpose:
- Navigating challenges in patients diagnosed with mental illness: cardiovascular, QTc prolongation, and metabolic disease.
- Describe the cardiovascular challenges associated with managing patients diagnosed with mental illness
- Identify treatment regimens to optimize patient care
- Addressing medication safety challenges: Navigation FDA boxed warnings and adverse drug reactions
- Identify both emerging and ongoing medication safety issues related to pharmacologic management to better prepare providers to address treatment challenges in older patients and those diagnosed with mental illness
- Examining the overlap of diagnostic and pharmacologic treatment challenges in physical and mental health; addressing the consequences of insomnia, depression, and related comorbidities
- Identify the treatment challenges that are commonly seen as comorbid conditions in the general population such as insomnia, depression, and other related medical and psychiatric illnesses
- Addressing the challenges that patients with movement disorders have
- Identify risk factors that lead to falls and how to mitigate adverse outcomes
- Describe the characteristics of different movement disorders
- Navigating physical challenges that can have behavioural consequences
- Recognize physical conditions that can lead to behavioural problems
- Metabolic disease and current recommendations for primary prevention and treatment
- Review what metabolic syndrome is
- Identify what the current recommendations are for primary prevention and treatment of metabolic syndrome

Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada:
Through an agreement between the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, medical practitioners participating in the Royal College MOC Program may record completion of accredited activities registered under the ACCME’s “CME in Support of MOC” program in Section 3 of the Royal College’s MOC Program.
College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) has a reciprocal credit reporting agreement with the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Prescribed credits can be claimed as the equivalent number of certified credits, and Elective credits can be claimed as the equivalent number of non-certified credits.
Members of the CFPC may claim up to 50 credits per five-year cycle from the Physician's Recognition Award (PRA) Category 1 credits. Any additional credits are eligible as non-certified credits.
Credit Designation for Pharmacists: This knowledge-based activity is approved for 16 hours of pharmacy continuing education credit.
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 16 (part II) MOC points in medical knowledge in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
