Description:
The Center for Medical Simulation (CMS) provides intensive, one-day training that focuses on Anesthesia Crisis Resource Management (ACRM) for all physicians who satisfy the requirements of the MOCA® Part IV requirement for simulation.
CMS Anesthesia Crisis Resource Management workshops are designed to help those who want to improve their abilities in the management of important incidents. The main goal of this training is to learn the kind of teamwork, as well as the general abilities required to manage any type of rare but important incident in anesthesia. Opportunities are provided to develop skills for managing specific situations. In the course, those who require MOCA® accreditation will be assigned to the role of the principal anesthesiologist who cares for the patient.

Course Objectives:
Participants will

• Discuss Crisis Resource Management (CRM) principles, including their application to actual situations in the clinical setting, monitoring cross, and awareness of the situation.
• Employ communication strategies for event management and the functions of the event manager using the new concept of "Name, Claim, Aim" handoffs and structured communications such as SBAR, assertion techniques such as "Two Challenge", and inquiry/advocacy techniques.
• Practice deliberate diagnosing and solving problems, as well as strategies to avoid fixing, increasing familiarity with Emergency Manuals for patient treatment in times of high cognitive stress.
• Practice strategies to facilitate culture change, with a focus on allowing input and opening up about it.
